Toyota to resume production at Japan plants Wednesday after supplier cyberattack

Asian Tech Press (Mar. 1) -- Japan's Toyota will resume production at all its Japanese plants on Wednesday, after a halt in operation in response to a cyber attack on one of its key suppliers.

The world's leading automaker said in a statement Tuesday that it will resume operations at all of its 14 plants in Japan on Wednesday, Bloomberg reported.

The Japanese automaker halted productions at its Japan plants Tuesday due to impacts from a cyberattack on its parts supplier Kojima Press Industry Co. Ltd.

Kojima Press confirmed Tuesday that its servers were hit by a suspected ransomware attack over the weekend, and the company said Monday that it plans to restore its systems from March 2.

The one-day domestic shutdown may have affected production of about 13,000 vehicles at Toyota, equivalent to about 5% of the company's output in February.
