Asian Tech Press (Aug 31) -- Tesla Inc. has cut the delivery waiting time for the rear-wheel drive Model Y sport utility vehicle in China again this month.

ATP learned from Tesla's website on Wednesday that the delivery waiting time for the rear-wheel drive Model Y is now one to four weeks.

It is worth mentioning that on August 18, Tesla just shortened the delivery waiting time from 8-12 weeks to 4-8 weeks.

Tesla said that the reduction is mainly due to two factors, the increase in capacity utilization of its Shanghai gigafactory and the release of capacity mainly to the Chinese market in the second half of the quarter.

At a recent shareholders' meeting, Tesla CEO Elon Musk had said that the annual production of Model 3 and Model Y at the Shanghai plant would exceed 750,000 units.

Musk once again praised, "Shanghai is hard to beat, I must say. Our Shanghai team is pretty awesome."
