Asian Tech Press (Jan 31) -- Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo won't be at E3 2023, sources said.
According to IGN, Microsoft's Xbox, Sony and Nintendo will not be attending E3 2023, nor will they have booths in the Los Angeles Convention Center exhibit hall. E3 2023 will take place from June 13 to June 16.
In recent years, for some reasons, E3, one of the world's largest game shows, has discontinued several times offline, and gaming companies have had to experiment with new promotional models such as live streaming and demo launches.
Last year's E3 2022 did not take place, this year is a triumphant return for the showfloor.
The withdrawal of the three major players will undoubtedly greatly reduce the attractiveness of E3, which will also lead to many third-party manufacturers to choose to withdraw together.
But it's not entirely surprising that the three major industry players will not exhibit at E3 2023, Sony did not participate in E3 for the first time in 2019 and has not participated since then.
And Microsoft's Xbox said last week that it will do a showcase in Los Angeles this summer, but didn't say it was at E3.
Japan's Nintendo has proven time and time again that the company can break big news through Nintendo Direct events, so there's no need to attend E3.
As E3 has gotten smaller, other stages have emerged for game publishers to make their big announcements, most importantly The Game Awards (TGA) and Summer Game Fest, both hosted by video game journalist Geoff Keighley.
