Sony's PlayStation models accounts for over 60% of China's console games market

National Business Wire (Dec 15) -- Sony's PlayStation models accounted for more than 60% of China's console games market, a new report shows.

Between December 14 and 15, the Game Publishing Committee of the China Audio-video and Digital Publishing Association (CADPA) took the lead in holding the 2023 China Game Industry Annual Conference in Huangpu District, Guangzhou.

A survey report released during the conference showed that the actual sales revenue of the global console games market reached $47.18 billion in 2023, up 11% year-on-year.

And there were as many as 440 million console game players worldwide, up 5% year-on-year, the report said.

In the first three quarters of 2023, sales of major game consoles, including Nintendo Switch (NS), Sony's PlayStation 5 (PS5), Microsoft's Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, amounted to 28.6 million units, a year-on-year increase of 20.2%.

As for the console game market in China, Sony's PS console series had the highest share of 66.1%, while NS accounted for the highest share of 56.3% among single devices.
