Asian Tech Press (Nov 5) -- South Korea's top two chipmakers Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix intend to omit some details in data on the global chip shortage that they provided at the request of the United States, Reuters reported on Friday, citing sources familiar with the matter.
"The scope of the U.S. data request is such that if all the information it wants is leaked, it would undermine competition and make it really easy for a client to choose one chipmaker over another," one of the people familiar with the matter said, according to the report.
The two South Korean chip giants were expected to submit data on their chip business to the U.S. by the Nov. 8 deadline, Yonhap News Agency reported on Wednesday.
