Samsung Electronics shifts some smartphone production back to S. Korea from Vietnam

Asian Tech Press (Feb 14) -- Samsung Electronics has shifted some smartphone production back to South Korea from Vietnam.

The company has moved some of its overseas smartphone production lines to its plant in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, according to Korean media outlet ETNews.

This is a special measure taken after its major factories in Vietnam and other countries experienced production setbacks due to COVID-19.

At the end of 2021, Samsung Electronics shifted 2 smartphone partner company production lines in Vietnam to the Gumi plant, the report said. And the expansion of the production line at the Gumi plant is the first of its kind after shifting its manufacturing base overseas.
