EU ranks Huawei as world's 4th highest investor in R&D

Asian Tech Press (Jan 10) -- The EU ranked Chinese telecom giant Huawei fourth in its R&D investors scoreboard 2022.

Huawei Technologies Co. invested 19 billion euros in R&D, ranking fourth behind Google-parent Alphabet Inc, Facebook owner Meta Platforms Inc and Microsoft Corp. and above Apple, Samsung, Volkswagen and Intel in the 2022 EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard.

Huawei has continued to invest heavily in research and development, according to its Q3 financial results published in late October last year.

In the first three quarters of 2022, Huawei's R&D expenses reached 110.581 billion yuan ($16.3 billion), an increase of 8.241 billion yuan ($1.2 billion) from 102.340 billion yuan in the same period of the previous year.

Statistically, Huawei has invested 845 billion yuan ($124.6 billion) in R&D in the past 10 years, and spends more than 20 billion yuan ($2.9 billion) on basic research every year.
