Disney plans to sell more films and TV series to rivals

Asian Tech Press (Feb 6) -- The Walt Disney Co. plans to sell more films and TV series to rivals.

Disney is exploring selling more movies and TV series to rivals, sources said, amid growing pressure to curb losses in its streaming TV business.

The U.S. entertainment giant is looking to generate more revenue from its content library, people familiar with the matter said. The move would represent a shift in strategy, as Disney has tried in recent years to keep most of its original programming exclusively on the Disney + and Hulu streaming services.

Bob Iger, who returned to Disney as CEO last November, previously said at a company-wide meeting that he would prioritize creativity and would pursue profitability rather than boosting subscriptions to Disney's streaming services.
